Japan Adventure Journal — Robert & Mike's Journey Across the Rising Sun
June 25, 2026Japan
From Tokyo to Kyoto, ancient temples to local dinners — follow Robert and Mike's real Japan adventure through the photos that prove the journey is real.
## Arrival in Japan
The compass pointed east, and we followed.
Mike and Robert arrived in Japan with a flock of cards, a sense of wonder, and absolutely no idea what was waiting for them. The plan was simple: explore, hide cards, meet people, and let the adventure unfold.
Japan did not disappoint.
## First Night Exploring
The first night was a blur of neon lights, narrow alleys, and the kind of energy that only exists in a city that never quite sleeps. Tokyo welcomed them the way it welcomes everyone — with overwhelming kindness, impossibly clean streets, and food that makes you forget you ever ate anything else.
A card was hidden that first night. Tucked into a quiet corner where someone would find it. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe next week. That's the adventure.
## Tradition and Culture
Japan operates on a level of care and intentionality that makes finding a hidden duck card feel perfectly at home. *Omotenashi* — selfless hospitality — is woven into everything.
From ancient temples to traditional encounters, every moment reminded them why they started this journey in the first place. Every card begins as original artwork. But it becomes something more when it travels.
## Food Discoveries
Every bowl tells a story.
Ramen at a counter with six seats. Takoyaki from a stall in Osaka. Tea served by someone who has been making it for decades. The food in Japan isn't just nourishment — it's a conversation between the cook and the traveler.
Mike ate his weight in gyoza. Robert pretended to be dignified about it.
## Friends and Local Discoveries
The greatest discovery of the journey was not a place — it was a friendship.
*Tomodachi.*
They met locals who showed them hidden spots no guidebook mentions. They shared meals with strangers who became friends. They learned that the best adventures are the ones you share.
## The Wave
And eventually, they found themselves doing what they came for in the first place: surfing beneath the rising sun, with Fuji watching and the torii standing tall.
The adventure continues across Tokyo. Find it. Hide it. Track it. Repeat.
## Kanpai
To new friends, new horizons, and the adventures that brought them here.
*Kanpai.*
The cards are hidden. The journey is real. The story is yours to follow.
